Expo 2020 – Public Realm

About the Project

The Expo 2020 Public Realm comprises the commonly used urban areas at the Expo 2020 Dubai site. Star attractions include three Expo Entry Portals designed by Asif Khan, made from carbon fibre and resin, standing 21 metres tall and weighing 29.4 tonnes total. The portals feature intricate geometric designs that appear to change with the viewing angle and time of day. The public realm also features an innovative lighting system that adjusts to the circadian system, with landscaping incorporating local plants, grasses and shrubs, and a network of lanes for pedestrians and vehicles.
